Ethiopia’s Almaz Ayana sets new women’s 10,000M record (Youtube-Clip)

“The athletics disciplines have gotten off to a flying start as one of the longest-standing records on the track came crumbling down. Ethiopia’s Almaz Ayana ran an incredible time of 29 minutes, 17.45 seconds to win the women’s 10,000m and set a new world and Olympic record. It’s also Africa’s first gold medal and the first new record in the event since 1993. Kenya’s Vivian Cheruiyot came second in 29 minutes, 32.53 while defending champion Tirunesh Dibaba claimed bronze in 29 minutes, 42.56 seconds.
