Among the new counties is Ik county that has 13,000 people. The Ik are a minority ethnic group living in the mountains of Kaabong district in Karamoja sub-region, north eastern Uganda. The community has borne the brunt of conflict, cattle raids, hunger famine and also grapples with poor basic services like schools and hospitals.
